On 17th of May 2017 Westminster International University in Tashkent organized a roundtable discussions on Economic Aspects of Legal Reforms in Uzbekistan.
The roundtable highlighted some of the key issues relating to latest and proposed legal reforms in the area of wider commercial law, identified the law as it stands today, challenges and opportunities and placed these issues within a framework to stimulate discussion. The discussions centered around 5 main areas:
I. Natural resources and energy
II. Corporate governance reforms
III. Foreign investment
IV. Commercial dispute settlement
V. Banking and Capital Markets
VI. Economic crimes
Participants included members of academic staff of WIUT, University of Diplomacy and World Economy, Tashkent Law University, Grata Law Firm and visitors from University of Westminster and Queen Marry College, London. The roundtable took place throughout one day, with a coffee break and lunch provided. Each speaker made a short presentation, which was followed by a Q&A session and discussion.
